Privacy Policy

This page explains how URGE processes personal data and how we apply GDPR principles such as data minimization, purpose limitation, and storage limitation.

Data controller

URGE is provided by the USN University Library. For all privacy-related questions, requests, or complaints, contact: forskningsdata@usn.no.

What we process

Why we process personal data

Legal basis (GDPR Article 6)

Storage and retention

Data entered in the main form is not stored permanently as a user profile or permanent record. Temporary session data is used to complete the requested operation and is short-lived. Aggregated counters are retained without direct personal identifiers.

Third-party recipients

URGE connects to external services only when you request that action, including Dataverse and ORCID. These providers process requests under their own privacy policies and terms.

International transfers

Depending on the selected data source or metadata provider, requests may be processed outside the EEA. When this occurs, processing is governed by the recipient service's legal framework and safeguards.

Your rights under GDPR

Security measures

URGE applies transport and browser security controls, minimizes stored data, and avoids logging direct secrets such as API tokens.
